Monday 30th October 2006 Shuart, Oare Marshes & Western Undercliff
Still
good numbers of butterflies on the wing today. I saw 6 Clouded Yellow
- 1 at Minnis and 5 at Oare Marshes, 1 Painted Lady - at
Oare, 1 Small White - along the Western Undercliff and numerous Red
Admirals at each site I visited. Common Darters are still very
numerous at Shuart and Oare with a surprisingly late Southern Hawker
seen at Shuart. (Dylan)
Sunday 29th October 2006 East
Blean
An
afternoon visit to East Blean proved to be excellent for fungi - by far
the best that I have seen it there, which was unfortunate in that I
haven't done anything with fungi for years, so of course didn't know what
most were! Impressive none the less. The ones that I could identity
were obviously the easy species such as Fly Agaric, Blusher, False
Death Cap, Parasol Mushroom, Cep and Amethyst Deceiver -
all of which were pretty common. I also came across a Death Cap, Wood
Blewits, Many-zoned Polypore, Oyster Mushroom, Birch Polypore, Sulphur
Tuft, Candle Snuff Fungus, various Russulas, Clitocybes and Mycenas,
the Puff Ball - Lycoperdon perlatum, Wrinkled Club and Velvet
Shank plus numerous others too boring to list and certainly to be
read, plus a host of unidentifieds.
The
only other thing of any note was a late Migrant Hawker enjoying the
autumn
sun. (F Solly)
Sunday
29th October 2006 Mount Pleasant roundabout
A
dead Badger by the dual carriageway just west of the Mount pleasant
roundabout (or do we now call it the Summerfield roundabout?) on Saturday
afternoon. It was freshly dead and I reckon had been killed the previous
night. (David Mairs)
Friday 27th October 2006 Elvington Garden
Good numbers of Red Admiral Butterflies where seen passing
over, and next to my garden, although the wind was a cold brisk Westerly all
the Red Admirals were taking a Southerly route

Friday
27th October 2006 Chamber's Wall
As your Painted Lady flew off, I thought I'd
send you one seen at Chamber's Wall today. (Tim Hodge)
Friday
27th October 2006 Dumpton Thanet
I observed a Painted Lady in the garden today
but it left before I could get a photograph. (Gadget)
Tuesday

sunning there self's just before 10-30hrs also had 1 Painted Lady and 2 Peacocks fly over. (Gadget)
Monday 16th October 2006 Dumpton Thanet
Having lunch today an unexpected visitor an Common
Backswimmer or as I would call it Water Boatman (Notonecta
glauca) landed on the table, as I've only ever seen them in the water
before upside down I was impressed with the markings also what a strong
flyer it was as it took off. (Gadget)
Friday 13th October 2006 Pegwell Bay
I saw 2 Clouded Yellows today - 1 on the
Hoverport this morning and another on the cycle path at the back edge of
the Country Park when I left Pegwell at 15.30. (Phil M)
Tuesday 3rd October 2006 Pegwell
Cliff-top/Hoverport
Most
conspicuous on a lunchtime visit to Pegwell Cliff-top/Hoverport were the
good numbers of Common Darters with the odd Migrant Hawker
thrown in. Butterflies were rather thin on the ground with just small
numbers of Red Admirals and Large/Small Whites, 2 Clouded
Yellows and singles of Peacock, Painted Lady and Speckled
Wood. Just one Hummingbird Hawk whizzed by. (F Solly)
Sunday 1st October 2005 Garden
Dumpton Thanet
Within the past two weeks there has been 3 different Hedgehogs
around the garden throughout the night and a count of 5 Common Frogs
one
of which was by the pound this morning, also of note is the return of a
per of Fox's out over the field behind my house, they have been absent
for the past two years at this end of the fields.

Saturday 30th September 2006 Dumpton garden
I spent some time, just before "Match of the Day" watching the
antics of a Hedgehog as it foraged for moths around the outside of
my moth trap. They are capable of surprisingly quick reactions for such a
clumsy creature. (Dylan)
