Sunday 15th May 2011 Stodmarsh NNR

A morning session at the superb Stodmarsh NNR was made even more enjoyable when I encountered a Mole swimming across the River Stour. Not something you see every day? Hairy Dragonfly, Blue-tailed and Variable Damselflies provided other non-avian interest. (Dylan)

While over Sandwich Bay today I noted the following:  Common Twayblade in good number and a few Lords & Ladies were in view around the gulley's , also Cardinal Beetles and a few Tibellus oblongus Spiders, a Crane Fly Tipula maxima was a nice find in the Elms,  but the St Mark's flies must take top spot as they are in record numbers, I have never seen so many (Gadget)

Tuesday 3rd May 2011 Stoneless Pegwell Bay

One of my rare visits to Pegwell Bay this morning in a strong easily wind, as I wandered thought Stoneless I came across the this chap walking around, a (male) Minotaur Beetle (Typhaeus typhoeus) one of the Dung Beetle family, and what a cracking beetle he is, (Gadget)

Sunday 1st May 2011 Ash Levels

This is the fist Stoat that I have observed out on the Ash Levels, it came up from one of the dikes as wet as can be as if it had been for a swim, more like it was looking for small chicks, (Gadget)
