Wednesday 29th March 2006 Monkton NR

A brief look at Monkton NR, mostly around the pond.  Plenty of Frogs - and spawn, good numbers of Smooth Newts and about 8 Great-crested Newts showing very well. Not much in the way of flowers - Sweet Violet and Coltsfoot being the most conspicuous. (F Solly)

Wednesdays 29th March 2006 Manston Court Road Thanet

Several mad March Hares were racing around in the field along Manston Court Road this morning, much to the delight of passing motorists. (Simon P)

Presumed polecat-ferret re-identified as a Mink

Sunday 12th March 2006 South Swale

I cut down to look along the ditch and saw a mammal with it's head stuck out of a 6" plastic pipe - it was about the size of a polecat, but marked like an otter - I'm guessing it must have been an escaped polecat-ferret because it was very tame, and seemed as curious about me as I was about him.
