Moth Nights 2009

Thursday 26th November 2009 Dumpton Thanet

Only two moths within the past ten day's a Dark Chestnut and a Silver Y better than I expected (Gadget)

Tuesday 24th November 2009 Pegwell & Kingsgate Traps

Near constant gales have produced some excellent moffing and the night of 23/11 was no exception. At Pegwell, singles of December Moth, November Moth and Brick; whilst at Kingsgate, 5 Diamond-backs and 1 Blastobasis lacticolella. (F Solly)

Friday 20th November 2009 Eastry

Meagre pickings of late, but with much encouragement we persevere. A nice Turnip Moth on 7th. a Dark Chestnut on 11th. and not much since. This morning, however, produced a couple of pristine Satellite and my first Sprawler.... (Bill Martin)

Monday 16th November 2009 Newington Ramsgate

A few moths arrived overnight - singles of Blastobasis decolorella, White Shouldered House Moth, Diamond Back, Blair's Shoulder Knot, Red Line Quaker and Scarce Bordered Straw. Not much else has been turning up lately - a couple of Brick the best of a bad bunch. (Phil M)

Tuesday 10th November 2009 Pegwell Trap

Night of 9/11. A few more moffs in the Pegwell trap  than the recent norm; 5 November Moths, singles of Feathered Thorn,  Mottled Umber, Large and Lesser Yellow Underwing, Dark Chestnut and Rush Veneer with 2 Bricks (F Solly)

Tuesday 10th November 2009 Dumpton Thanet

The only moth of late was on the 6th November Red-line Quaker nothing in the trap for three nights, Good fun, (Gadget)

Wednesday 4th November 2009 Newington Ramsgate

Only 3 macros in the traps on a cold night with a full moon - they were singles of Lesser Yellow Underwing, Silver Y and a nice Satellite, which is a moth I don't get too often here. (Phil M)

Tuesday 3rd November 2009 Newington Ramsgate

There were a few moths at the garden lights overnight with the emphasis on the word 'few'. The total catch was 1 Blastobasis decolorella, 1 Diamond Back, 2 November Moth, 1 Feathered Thorn, 2 Lesser Yellow Underwing, 2 Red-line Quakers and 1 Large Wainscot. (Phil M)

Tuesday 3rd November 2009 Eastry

A couple of Satellite this morning, a brilliant white example along with a much smaller moth with an orange planetary system. A late Vine's Rustic, several Feathered Thorn and regular Green-brindled Crescent. Otherwise unsurprisingly very low numbers, even November Moth which until recently have been using the trap to play floodlit 5-a-side,  (Bill Martin)

Monday 2nd November 2009 Newington Ramsgate

There were a few moths in the traps overnight - 1 Diamond Back, 1 Rush Veneer, 1 November Moth, 1 Feathered Thorn and 3 Large Yellow Underwing. Also tonight (its just before 9.00pm as I write) even though its quite cold and there's a stunning full moon I've found another Feathered Thorn, Red-line Quaker and a Large Wainscot near the MV lights. (Phil M)
