Night
of 26/11. The wind dropped and straight away awash with
moffs! Single Red-green Carpet, Lesser Yellow Underwing
and Blair's Shoulder-knot and 5 LBAMs - well
worth the effort. (F Solly)

November 2008 Newington Thanet
Just browsed the
moth page and seeing as I hadn't 'reported in' since the 5th of the
month I thought I'd better do so now or risk the wrath of Thanets
first ever website owning midget. I'm still getting moths every
night, though in very small numbers. Some silly bits still on the
wing in this mild weather were having lately - last night I caught a
Caloptilia specie (it's a rufipennella
or an elongella - I forgot to check it, it's in the
fridge) plus a Brown House Moth, which is ridiculously late
for here. On the night of the 13th I had my latest ever garden date
for Shuttle-shaped Dart and even sillier was an Archips
podana on the night of the 15th! I’ve never caught one any
later than September in past years. I've also taken 1 - 2 Mottled
Umbers on 5 dates (which is by far the most ever) plus only my
second ever sighting of Scarce Umber on the night of the
12th. Otherwise the occasional Large and Lesser Yellow Underwing,
Silver Y, Angle Shades, Dark Sword-grass, Blair's Shoulder-knot,
Feathered Thorn, November Moth, Blastobasis decolorella
(or whatever they call them nowadays?) plus Crocidosema
plebejana's on 3 dates is noteworthy for here too. I know
it's dull - but it's November 'and' in Thanet. I might even have to
start doing some birding soon? Now that is getting desperate. Tatty
bye. (Phil M)

Acleris sparsana and 6 LBAM. More at Pegwell, as
has been the way recently - 1 Mallow, 2 November Moth,

scarce on Thanet), 1 Brick, 2 Dark Chestnut, 1
Chestnut, 1 Oak Nycteoline, 29 LBAMs, 1
Crocidosema plebejana, 1 Blastobasis lacticolella,
1 Amblyptilia acanthadactyla and 1 Emmelina

Sunday 2nd November 2008 Pegwell Trap
Night of 1/11. The moffs were off to a flyer

1 Feathered Thorn, 1 Green-brindled Crescent
and 2 Silver Ys (F Solly)
Sunday 2nd
November 2008 Newington Thanet
A few macro moths
for the first night in a while overnight as singles of Mottled
Umber, Brick and Angle Shades came to the Mv's.
Anything's worth looking at in November in a concrete back garden
miles from any habitat, so I even counted the micros which were: 1
White -shouldered House Moth, c12 Light-brown Apple Moths,
5 Emmelina monodactyla and a Eudonia angustea.
I know... boring? You're lucky to get anything at all after today’s
Grand Prix - I almost had a heart attack during the last two nights
of the Interlagos race! Mind you it probably would have done you lot
out there in cyber land a favour in the long run? You're still stuck
with my ramblings I'm afraid. (Phil M) (Gutted for Massa)
Sunday 2nd
November 2008 Dumpton Thanet
Only three Moths in the trap from last night 1
Luna Underwing and two Silver Y’s but the trap will
stay on so to keep the garden lit up, (Gadget)
