Moth Nights 2007
Friday 30th November 2007 Kingsgate Trap

Night of 29/11. Single December Moth and LBAM at Kingsgate were the only winged jewels attracted to the moth traps last night. (F Solly)

Thursday 29th November 2007 Pegwell Trap

Night of 28/11. Singles of Pearly Underwing, Rusty Dot and LBAM made the cycle in the rain to the Pegwell Trap all the more worthwhile! (F Solly)

Wednesday 28th November 2007 Kingsgate & Pegwell Traps

Night of 27/11. Not to be outdone by the particularly fine birding, the Kingsgate trap contained 5 December Moths, 1Mottled Umber and a Tawny Pinion. Whilst at Pegwell, there were singles of; December Moth, Spruce Carpet, Winter Moth, Blair's Shoulder-knot and Brick. (F Solly)

Monday 26th November 2007 Pegwell Trap

Night of 24/11. A Large Wainscot in the Pegwell trap - the latest record for the site and surprisingly the only record from there this year. (F Solly)

Thursday 22nd November 2007 Kingsgate & Pegwell Traps

The traps were awash with moffs last night although I managed to contain my excitement. At Kingsgate there were singles of;  December Moth, November Moth, Feathered Thorn, Lesser Yellow Underwing, Blair's Shoulder-knot, Diamond-back, Rusty Dot and Crocidosema plebejana with 4 LBAMs. Pegwell had singles of Yellow-line Quaker, Brick and Scrobipalpa costella. Wow!  (F Solly)

Tuesday 13th November 2007 Newington Thanet

There were 2 macro moths in the traps when I checked them earlier - the 5th Red-line Quaker of the autumn and a Blair's Shoulder-knot. The only micro's were a few Light-brown Apple Moths - as you might expect. (Phil M)

Wednesday 7th November 2007 Pegwell Trap

Night of 6/11. A truly mouth-watering selection of moffs in the Pegwell trap - quite surprising given the conditions. The delights were singles of; November Moth, Feathered Thorn, Lesser Yellow Underwing, Black Rustic, Blair's Shoulder-knot, Feathered Ranunculus, Satellite, Eudonia angustea and LBAM. Now that’s got you all desperate to put your traps back on! (F Solly)

Tuesday 6th November 2007 Newington Thanet

Only 2 macro moths in the traps overnight - a Feathered Thorn and another Red-line Quaker. Months of 'nothingness' ahead - 'tis all doom and gloom for moths fellow humans. (Phil M)

Saturday 3rd November 2007 Pegwell & Kingsgate Trap

Night of 2/11. A reasonable selection of moths in the Pegwell trap, the pick of which were singles of White-speck and Scarce Bordered Straw. Others included; 2 Mallow, 3 Common Marbled Carpet, 2 Red-green Carpet, 8 November Moth, single Green Brindled Crescent, Brick and Red-line Quaker. A lot less at Kingsgate, a Gem and Pearly Underwing being the only things of any note (F Solly)

Saturday 3rd November 2007 Beltinge

Night of 2/11 - only a few moths in the trap last night which were 1 Rusty Dot, 1 Diamond-back and 1 Chestnut. A bit of let down considering it was still 14 degrees Celsius when I hit the sack. (Barry Hunt)

Friday 2nd November 2007 Newington Thanet

Good temperatures overnight encouraged a few things to the lights in the back garden. Top things included Mottled Umber and 2 Red-line Quaker also Blastobasis decolorella, Monopis obviella, White-shouldered House-moth, Acleris sparsana, 1 Large Yellow Underwing,1 Lesser Yellow Underwing and 3 Blair's Shoulder-knot. (Phil M)

Thursday 1st November 2007 Beltinge

Night of 31/10- a few bits last night of which the best was a second Merveille du Jour of the month, along with 2 Silver Y, Common Marbled Carpet, November Moth, Blair's Shoulder- knot, Shuttle-shaped Dart, 5 Green-brindled Crescents, 6 Lesser Yellow Underwing, 4 Large Yellow Underwing and 2 Angle Shades. (Barry Hunt)
