November 2005 Kingsgate & Pegwell Traps
Night of 10/11 More
moths than of late although was rather disappointing given the mild and
cloudy night. The traps contained the following; Gem, November
Moth, Lesser Yellow Underwing, Pearly Underwing, Brick,
Yellow-line Quaker, Angle Shades, Large Wainscot, Pale
Mottled Willow Scarce Bordered Straw, Silver Y, Rush
Veneer, Rusty Dot Pearl, Diamond Back, Light Brown Apple Moth, Caloptilia
rufipennella, Acleris sparsana, Scrobipalpa costella, Blastobasis
decolorella and Emmelina
monodactyla -
absolutely riveting. (F Solly)
Wednesday
9th November 2005 Kingsgate / Pegwell moth Traps
Very few moths the last few
nights.
Night of 5/11 - single Barred
Sallow and Large Wainscot at Kingsgate are both late dates for
the location and the most notable moths on that date. Odd migrants are
still turning up, mostly singles. Silver Y's, Rusty Dot Pearls and Diamond
Backs. Slightly better quality in the form of a Scarce Bordered
Straw on 6/11 and White-speck on 7/11 - both at Pegwell. (F
Solly)
Friday
4th November 2005 Kingsgate / Pegwell Traps
Night of
3/11
A scattering of moths in the
traps, somewhat surprising after yesterday's wind. Combined species were; December
Moth, Gem, Red-green Carpet, Mallow, November Moth, Feathered Thorn,
Turnip, Blair's Shoulder-knot, Green-brindled Crescent, Brick, Angle
Shades, Scarce Bordered Straw and Silver Y. The small critters were; Rush
Veneer, Rusty Dot Pearl, Diamond Back, and Light Brown Apple Moth,
Crocidosema plebejana, Caloptilia rufipennella and
Emmelina monodactyla. (F Solly)
Thursday 3rd November 2005 Kingsgate
/ Pegwell / Garden Traps
Night of 2/11
Very windy overnight and not all
moth 'weather'. I went to the Kingsgate trap just to make sure it
hadn't blown over - not actually expecting any moths. Surprisingly, there
were single Golden Twin-spot, Delicate and Silver Y with 3 Diamond
Backs. The only other moths were single Large and Lesser Yellow
Underwings and a November Moth. My
garden just had a Turnip and 2 November Moths and a very
blown out Pegwell a Green-brindled Crescent. (F Solly)
Night of 1/11
A windy start to the month, which
meant very little, struggled into the Moth Traps. A single of the migrant
Pyralid - Palpita vitrealis was one of the few moths in my
Garden. Pegwell had the
most moths, which is not saying much and nothing of any interest with; 3
November Moths, 1 Dark Sword-grass, 1 Large
Yellow Underwing, 1 Pearly Underwing, 1 L-album
Wainscot, 2 Bricks, 1 Yellow-line Quaker, 1
Angle Shades, 1 Silver Y, 2 Diamond Backs, Epiphyas
postvittana, 1 Acleris sparsana, 2 Caloptilia
rufipennella, 1 Blastobasis decolorella and 1 Emmelina
monodactyla (F Solly)
