I dug up two cocoons whilst gardening a few weeks ago and put them
in a jam jar to see what emerged. Enclosed are some pics of the moth that
emerged this morning. Hopefully you can identify it for me. (Identified as
Angle Shades) The second cocoon is slightly smaller and yet to

A Tawny Pinion last night, along with a Common
Quaker and 4 Light Brown Apple Moths, other than that not much
recently, with my first Angle Shades of the year the previous

Not lots of moths in the traps overnight but there were 2 reasonably high
quality moths for my garden Pine Beauty and Dotted Border,
my second and c.sixth back garden records respectively. Otherwise just a
handful of Common micros which included another Agonopterix

disappointingly cool conditions - the expected cloud breaking produced:

Chestnut, 45 Small Quaker, 10 Common Quaker, 3 Clouded
Drab, 6 Chestnut, 15 Diurnea fagella and 3 Tortricodes

Kingsgate Traps
Night of 16/3/2007 Whilst in dullsville, Pegwell had 1 Shoulder-stripe,
1 Dark Sword-grass, 2 Common Quaker, 1 Hebrew Character
and 1 Silver Y. 4 Common Quaker, 2 Diurnea fagella
and 1 Emmelina monodactyla was all that struggled into the

An extremely early Hummingbird Hawk-moth flew in and out of the
garden on a couple of occasions at 17.30 this evening. It appeared to be
looking for somewhere to land and might have rested on my next-door
neighbours back wall? No moths at the lights overnight I
did catch an extremely small Common Quaker on the previous night.
