Moth Nights 2010

Thursday 25th February 2010 Eastry

At last the first. Just two moths in the rain last night, a very welcome Early Moth and a lively Chestnut. (Bill Martin)

With an most welcome mild night last night the trap this morning held one moth a Chestnut is this the start of better conditions, (Gadget)

Sunday 7th February 2010 Dumpton Thanet

Quite a nice surprise for me when I found a (female) Dotted Border (Agriopis marginaria) this being the fist for me and in my garden, as the females are wingless, so you have to look for them around bushes i.e. Blackthorn and Hawthorn etc, and be lucky, (Gadget)

Saturday 6th February 2010 Newington Ramsgate

The first moths of the new year have arrived at long last - a Satellite the night before last then an Early Moth last night. The Early Moth is the first one I've ever caught - I've seen a couple one via old Hairy plus another that I found in the old wooden bird hide at Pegwell one day many years ago. A few insects have been showing up the past couple of days - a Bumblebee and a Honey Bee in the back garden plus the occasional midge and Beetle coming to the MV's at night. (Phil M)
