Tuesday 13th December Humming-bird Hawkmoth
There was a Humming-bird Hawkmoth flying around the fluorescent
tubes inside the SMP department at Sericol at 11.00hrs today. I have to
assume that it had been roosting inside the building and had become active
due to the hot air fans? Why it is inside the factory is a bit of a
mystery, although other guys on the site do tell of moths being attracted
to the solvents used in the manufacture of the inks. (Dylan)
Thursday
8th December 2005 Ramsgate Garden
There were 3 moths in the traps from last night - a Feathered Thorn,
a Light Brown Apple Moth and a single Emmelina Monodactyla
not much but any sort of moth is a result at this time of the year in the
garden. The Feathered Thorn was probably the same one I caught on
the 3rd as they've been scarce this year according to old Hairy. Only the
4th or 5th one I’ve caught this autumn/winter. (Phil M)
