Thursday 10th December 2009 Newington
Ramsgate
A veritable moth-fest overnight ... well
considering it's nearing mid December and it occurred in my
virtual habitat free garden anyway. The grand total was 1
Agonopterix alstromeriana, 1 White Shouldered
House Moth, 1 Diamond Back, c15 Light Brown
Apple Moth, 1 Emmelina monodactyla, 1
Winter Moth, 1 Mottled Umber and 1 Lesser
Yellow Underwing. (Phil M)
Thursday 10th December 2009 Eastry
A relatively mild and still night
encouraged a few visitors to our Christmas lights. Just one
Diamond Back, a couple of Satellite, a well
worn Turnip Moth and a very nice December Moth.
We all need a treat now and again, (Bill Martin)
Wednesday 9th December 2009 Kingsgate Trap
Night of 8/12. A mild night produced 3 December Moths
and singles of Winter Moth, Satellite, Dark
Chestnut, Diamond-back, Blastobasis lacticolella
and Light Brown Apple Moth in the Kingsgate trap. How
exciting is that? (F Solly)
Wednesday 9th December 2009 Dumpton Thanet
Only 1 Diamond-back and 5 Light Brown Apple
Moths. (Gadget)
Sunday 6th December 2009 Newington
Ramsgate
I'm still catching a few moths - mainly
common micro's though the occasional macro is showing up.
Overnight I took 1 White-shouldered House Moth, 3
Diamond Back's and half a dozen Light Brown Apple
Moths plus singles of Large Yellow Underwing and
Chestnut. (Phil M)

Leaf-Miner Sandwich area
Most of you will be familiar with the
whitish gallery mines on bramble - particularly in woodland,
of the micro moth Stigmella aurella. I
collected a couple of occupied mines from Sandwich Bay in
November and was surprised to see an adult had emerged on
4/12. An attractive critter although rather uncooperative
and on the small side for my camera. (F Solly)
