still quiet on the moth front. Overnight: 5 Hebrew Character, 2 Common
Quaker, 1 Shuttle Shaped Dart, 1 Early Grey and the only

Tuesday 17th April 2007 Kingsgate Thanet
At Kingsgate last week, I collected a few of the fallen Horse Chestnut
leaves from last autumn containing the mines of the Horse Chestnut Leaf
Miner (Cameraria ohridella), the critters emerged over the

Nothing much happening moth wise - stating the obvious of course but there
ya go. Overnight: 2 Agonopterix subpropinquella, 5 Hebrew
Character, 3 Common Quaker, 1 Shuttle Shaped Dart, 1 Spectacle,
2 Angle Shades etc. The only other 'new' thingamy I've taken
recently was a Flame Shoulder. Lets hope this high pressure clears
off before mid May eh?? (Phil M)

obviella, 3 Double-striped Pugs, 1 Brimstone, 3 Common
Quakers, 1 Hebrew Character, 2 Early Grey, 1 Angle

Night of 16th April 2007 to 125MV light 6 Angle
Shades was a nice surprise 2 Common
Quakers, 2
Hebrew Character, 2 Early Grey,4 Emmelina monodactyla
and 7 Light Brown Apple Moths to round it up.

My best night so far this year, with 15 species, including 1 Pine
Beauty, 7 Double-striped Pugs, 1 Brimstone, 1 Shuttle-shaped
Dart and 1 Pale Mottled Willow. A plain Agonopterix
species was also caught, probably subpropinquella. (Tim Hodge)
Monday 16th April 2007 Pegwell Trap
Night of 15/4. A mild (but still clear) night. A reasonable selection
of the seasonal usual suspects at Pegwell. 1 Chinese Character, 1 Oak-tree
Pug, 1 Brimstone, 1 Muslin, 1 Least Black Arches,
1 Pearly Underwing, 1 Cabbage, 1 Bright-line Brown-eye,
6 Hebrew Character, 10 Common Quaker, 2 Clouded Drab,
1 Chamomile Shark, 9 Early Grey, 3 Angle Shades, 1 Dark
Spectacle, 1 Endrosis sarcitrella, 3 Eudonia

No
surprises overnight, although the catch included 8 Early Grey, 3 Dark
Spectacles, 2 Angle Shades, 5 Common Quakers, 3 Double-striped
Pugs, 1 Amblyptilia acanthadactyla and a Shuttle-shaped
Dart.

Still
very slow with these continuing cold clear nights. Overnight: 3 Hebrew
Character, 3 Common Quaker, 1 Early Grey and the first Silver

Numbers have picked up over the past few nights, although mainly just the
usual suspects. The only things of note were early records of Small
Dusty Wave a couple of nights ago and Dark Spectacle last

At last a few more moths made it into the traps overnight - over ten
species ... whoopee!! No quality though, of course. There were: 4 White-shouldered
House Moth, 4 Eudonia angustea, 1 Twenty-plume Moth,
2 Double-striped Pug, 1 Early Thorn, 1 Shuttle-shaped
Dart, 3 Common Quaker, 2 Hebrew Character, 4 Early
Grey, 1 Clouded Drab and 4 Angle Shades. I do have one
unidentified Mompha / Blactodacna specie not sure what it is yet? Hairy's
on the case as I speak!! (Phil M)

Night
of 8th/9th Slightly disappointing given that the weather
conditions seemed quite good. A Monopis obviella, Endrosis
sarcitrella, 2 Common Quakers, 2 Early Grey and 3 Angle
Shades. Night of 7th/8th A much better night, with 10
species, including Agonopterix arenella, Brimstone, Pearly
Underwing, 2 Clouded Drabs, 3 Early Grey and 2 Angle
Shades. A tiny but attractive moth Phyllonorycter

Night of 6/4. A few more moths at Pegwell now that the wind has
dropped, although still cold and very damp at night. 1 Spruce Carpet,

2 Early Grey and a Pale Pinion (another Tawny Pinion
