Sunday 18th July 2010 Restharrow Scrape SBBOT
Late News
I arrived at the scrape just after 7.00 am where I met two birders
leaving the site due to their failure to spot the Pectoral Sandpiper. So,
undaunted, I continued to the hide where I met my old golfing buddy Steve
Reynaert hanging around outside the hide on the look out for butterflies.
After 30minutes or so we were joined by another birder. At approx 8.00am the
Pectoral Sandpiper finally made an appearance at the back of the
second island from the hide .It stayed in view for several minutes then
disappeared out of view. A year tick for us all and a first for Steve. Other
birds of note: - 2 Little Ringed Plover, 6 juvenile Yellow Wagtail,
4 Little Egret and 2 Little Grebe.

Wednesday 14th July Restharrow Scrape, Sandwich
Midday. called in at the scrape hide just in time for a Pectoral
Sandpiper to be identified, just as well there experts about because I
would not been able to identify it? Unfortunately the bird stayed on the
furthest away island so the attached photo is pretty awful, but I include it
for interest. There were two Common Sandpipers along with a flock of
Lapwings. After being disturbed twice by a Kestrel, finally
the Sandpiper and most of the Lapwings flew away south at 1.30pm. (Don

Monday 12th July 2010 Dungeness ARC Pits
White-tailed Plover,

myself left Thanet at around 19-00hrs on the second day of it being present
on the ARC Pits Dungeness and were rewarded with distant views of the bird,
after a few record photos that were recorded, we headed back to Thanet, but
to late, as we had been spotted, the Thanet lads were off the reservation
without permission from the self appointed judgment committee! sorry Andy
next time we will ask first, I don't think (Gadget)
